Easy way to play 7th Chord on piano
I believe most of you heard about 7th chord in music term. If you are not, hat should be fine, because I would teach you how to identify this easily.
First to know why we want to play 7th chord. If you just play normal triad chord, it would sound normal, by simply add in the 7th chord, it would sound more contemporary or even jazzy sound. Believe it or not
When you come to your piano, lets say you play C key song, the C scale should be C D E F G A B & back to C again. the first C is named as 1st note and last C is named as 8th notes. The rest you should know how to name it by yourself.
There are 2 types of 7th chord one is Major 7 and another is called Flat 7
Pretty simple to get these 7th chords. Let say you play triad chord of C major. hold the root chord on right hand side C E G. with your left hand, hold 1 5 7 where there is C G B. This would sound as C major 7.
Rule of thumb to get Major 7 chord the major 7 notes is always before the 1st notes/8th notes
How about flat 7, just further move down from Major 7 to THE CLOSEST NOTE INCLUDING BLACK KEY IF ANY. then you would get the Flat 7 chord, AGAIN THESE CHORD WOULD GIVE YOU JAZZY SOUND.
Start to learn these chords, I’m sure your piano playing in Praise and Worship would sound differently.
Enjoy and God Bless
