How to change chord to melody?
I believe a lot of us as beginner would start to learn to play piano with chord. It would be much easier rather than pick up from melody notation sheet and it is sound better (provided there is a person who sing on Melody).
But if you are playing piano alone with chord. People would ask: ” what the song that you are playing with?” People has no idea on what you are playing. That’s true, but it is ok for beginner :).
What you need to pick up next is to transform your chord to becoome melody sound. There are 2 rule of thumb that you need to follow.
1) Most of MELODY NOTES come from CHORD NOTES.
2) you need to identify and CAN FEEL the HIGH and LOW PTICH SOUND.
If you know how to play chord, now it is very easy for you to change to melody sound.
1) Play the song with just chord for first round.
2) Identify the song on which area is high pitch and which is low pitch.
3) Breaking up your chord as much as possible, example: C Chord –> C , E , G or E , G , C or G, C, E depending on you are landing on root or inversion chord.
4) Sing up the song you play, once you identify and FEEL there is high pitch sound coming, go than pressing on the higher notes in the chord as possibble and vise versa.
5) Finish up the song and see what is it different from what you play by chords last time.
I would not say it would 100% hit the melody as you wish but you woudl at least getting 70% hit rate if you really understand what I mean on above. There are still some missing note or so call passing notes, well the more you play on it, the more you will know when you need to press on the passing notes.
Enjoy & God Bless
